The NC Department of Environmental Quality and the Department of Health and Human Services will host a community information session in Bladen County next month.
The forum will be held in the auditorium of Bladen Community College on Thursday, Feb. 1, from 6-8 p.m.
Officials will be on hand to talk about surface water and drinking water well testing results. Alternative water options and preliminary air sampling for GenX also will be discussed.

The CFPUA Monthly meeting is open to the public (Lucie Harrell conference room). There is a public comment opportunity at the top of the meeting for those interested.
It seems clear that Sen. Lee's authority over the Environmental Review Commission will fast-track funding to CFPUA, rather than the DEQ and DHHS.
Our DEQ and DHHS are the agencies put in place to protect our public health and the environment. The CFPUA CANNOT DO ALL THAT. This is akin to your insurance company bypassing your surgeon and giving the money directly to the equipment sales rep to do your surgery. It makes no sense.
Most of our local legislators are fighting against DEQ and DHHS funding - for reasons that they have not stated to the public -- and fighting instead for money to go to CFPUA.
We need to attend these CFPUA meetings and stay on top of developments.

The Lower Cape Fear Water & Sewer Authority Board of Directors holds a regular Board Meeting the second Monday of every month. The agenda is available for public review at http://www.lcfwasa.org/board-meetings - the Thursday preceding the upcoming Board Meeting.

Clean Cape Fear's Water Wednesday, July 26: Just the Facts, Please: An Evening with Scientists
Brunswick Regional Water and Sewer H2GO has partnered with WWAY, WHQR and StarNews to sponsor a GenX Forum in Brunswick County at Brunswick Community College’s Odell Williamson Auditorium on July 19th. Doors open at 6:00 PM and the forum will begin at 7:00 PM. Admission is free for the public.
The panel will consist of UNCW Biological Oceanography Professor Dr. Larry Cahoon, UNCW Aquatic Toxicology/Environmental Endocrinology Assistant Professor Dr. Susanne Brander, NC State Civil, Construction and Environmental Engineering Professor and author of the ‘GenX Study’ Dr. Detlef Knappe, Cape Fear River Keeper Kemp Burdette, and North Carolina Rural Water Association Executive Director Daniel Wilson.

This event will feature a panel discussion and information on Gen X and its effect on our community. The event will feature guest speakers and panelists that will answer questions presented by the community about this critical issue.
The event will take place at New Hanover County Main Library in the New Hanover Room at 5:30pm on Tuesday, July 18th, 2017.

The event will include a monthly Water Drive. We will be collecting purified bottled water for those in need of clean water.

Clean Cape Fear is partnering with Wilmington's Downtown Business Alliance (DBA) to offer guidance and support on viable solutions designed to maintain consumer confidence while also providing clean, safe drinking water to visitors and local customers.
Members of Clean Cape Fear, along with other guest speakers from the scientific community, will offer technical information to DBA members; as well as an opportunity to get involved in a new program aimed at maintaining consumer confidence.
Since our leaders are not moving forward with effectively communicating this issue, or providing access to clean water to all members of our community, Clean Cape Fear is hosting a community discussion to brainstorm ideas and set action items to effectively provide outreach and support to everyone. Deborah Dicks Maxwell (President of local NAACP) and other guest speakers will lead this community discussion.
A public forum about the GenX water crisis -- sponsored by StarNews Media, WWAY News and WHQR News 91.3.
Speakers will address several topics during the forum and panelists will answer questions submitted by the public.
